Principal Investigators

If you are a student or faculty at a university, you may have ideas for technologies or processes that could lead to revolutionary products. We help researchers refine technologies and intellectual property into solid product ideas that solve real problems. We may help you file patents and get recognition within your university as well.

We work with Principal Investigators at universities much the same way that we work with all inventors, except that we cut the university into the deal as well. The details are described in our Process page, but your profit as an Inventor will be the same as if you approached us on your own with an idea. The university's percentage comes out of our profit, not yours.

Intellectual Property / Research

Universities are hotbeds of research, but "technology transfer" has traditionally been a challenge. Part of the problem is that the Entrepreneur is hard to find. Professors and even graduate students often don't have the time or inclination to put their lives on hold and pursue the startup lifestyle. Also, the application of technology/IP to a viable product is not a trivial undertaking, and may fall beyond the scope of the Principal Investigator's expertise or interest.

We are actively encouraging University faculty and students to come to us with half- or full-formed ideas for products. We can assure confidentiality and with an initial consultation we may be able to recommend a path to market for you.
